Feelings

Every so often, I stop working on the house, or sewing or etc., etc. and think about my feelings.

Okay, not really.  My feelings are happening inside of me the entire time I am doing everything I do.  I just don't share them much on this blog.  Today I am thinking about LOVE.  I'm thinking about how we treat other people, how we view them, and what our feelings are as a result.

Sometimes at church I feel like we make statements about our membership or refer to our faith as some kind of exclusive "club" we are in.  Like, aren't we such lucky beasts that we know all the secrets that others don't know?!?

I hate that feeling.  I felt it today and it bug, bug, bugged me.  I want to love mankind.  I want to be friendly to the person I am around...whoever and wherever that is.  I don't want there to be an ulterior motive of trying to make that friend join the same club as me for fear that they'll be damned for not knowing the same "secrets."

I just want to love and loved because we are.  We are people.  We are the human family.  We hurt, we rejoice, we love our babies, and we just want to be cared about in a sincere way.

  1. Amen! I love this post because, just coincidentally, I was recently pondering this topic myself. We should love everyone no matter who they are or what their status is. I am working on trying not to be judgmental. It's actually very hard to do at times.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree. The only time I have ever been successful at inviting people to the club was when it was the furthest thing from my mind. I just loved them and they asked. Love them, love them, love them. No questions, no conditions except mutual respect. When things seem unfair and don't make sense, I just tell myself. God will judge with an extra measure of forgiveness. I truly believe that.

I loved reading the blog entry, and her latest post about her religion. Every religion has good things to offer and is trying to build people towards being better. I am so excited to be living in such a diverse area right now. More chances to learn, to understand, to love.

  3. So this isn't really about feelings, but your post started me thinking about Holy Grail literature throughout the centuries and that is still popular today (stuff like the Da Vinci Code) and it occured to me that this Holy Grail lit stuff is really about losing the whole truth of the gospel. What always strikes me though when I read these books is that the gospel isn't exclusive, it is inclusive, and while it is a tremendous gift to have it, we shouldn't hold it tight to our chests and refuse to share.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. After time and prayer and study I've made more sense of the silly things humans can say (probably because they are nervous up giving a talk :) that don't necessarily jive with the spirit of the teachings of the Gospel. Thanks so much for thinking about this and making a comment, Tiffany <3!
