Update

We have our computer down in the basement so I'm slowly typing as my cold, numb fingers cry out for me to return upstairs.  We've made some headway on the house this weekend, mostly in the form of choosing temporary solutions that will help our every day life go smoother.

We are at the point we kind of knew we'd reach that is we are out of money but certainly not out of projects.  (Notice how all the crafts I've been showing lately are free or recyled? ;)  This house rehabbing gig is tough.  I think we were wise enough to know we were biting off a lot with this one, but at the time we really had no choice.  It was the most affordable home in this area, despite its large size....so its not like we can moan and wish we had just gotten something cheaper.  Believe me...I've looked.  I look at homes 1/3 the size fantasizing that we could afford a house and a car.  But then I pop back into reality when I realize the price of the small homes is still more than we paid.  We got a great deal, is what I am saying.  But times are tough, is also true.

I don't know why I am complaining.  It is more than livable and comfortable.  I just get embarrassed when visitors see half finished projects like a room half painted or things missing.

I'm excited about some of the changes we've cooked up this weekend.  We've cleaned a few spaces that get dumped on (coat closet) and the wall is being prepped to put up a creative curtain "solution"  in our kitchen.  I really hope that looks as good as I think it will.

What have you been up to lately?

  1. i've finally finished my entry way table....now working on the mantel. i totaly sympathize with how you feel when people see half finished projects....its definately the phase of the project that is the least amount of fun. pretty soon you will move into the next phase where things start falling into place and then you will be able to smile when you walk into the rooms because they are exactly what you had imagined they would be! hang in there girl! when you're feeling down just remember that a loving home is more than a painted wall and new furniture! :) hugs!

  2. I know how you feel! We bought the home we want to retire back in March. It had been sitting on the market and rented out for almost 2 years. It was abused and neglected during that time period. It has so much potenial to be totally fabulous. But we need to take baby steps to get it all done. It doesn't help that I am ADHD and have so many great ideas. Pinterest doesn't help much either. But then again it does! lol
Just remember life's true blessing. It all will come in it's own time :)

    Kindest regards,
    Jennifer
